Vinous – 94/100
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly 1er Cru has a clean, precise, focused bouquet with orchard fruit, lanolin and light peach skin scents. An underlying mineralité surfaces with a few swirls of the glass. This is complex and involving. The acidity, full of tension and nascent energy, drives this along. It gradually builds toward a very concentrated finish that needs to assimilate some remnants of new oak. This far exceeds my expectations, especially as it was so backward out of barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2050
