Vinous – 86
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is backward and quite masculine with tertiary scents dominating the red fruit. The palate is rather firm and unyielding. Here I am seeking more flesh to develop on the finish. So-so, considering the pedigree of the vineyard. Tasted at Goedhuis & Co.’s annual Burgundy tasting in London.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2024
Robert Parker – 90-92
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin les Evocelles was showing reduction on the nose when I visited the domaine. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe red currant and cranberry notes, quite juicy tannins and good structure, if not the length, of a top vintage. I will reserve judgement for later.
