Vinous – 90
Good deep ruby. Aromas of blackberry syrup, tar and minerals, with a faint roasted quality. Plush, sweet and rich, with very ripe plum and cedar flavors framed by supple, building tannins and just enough minerally acidity. The wine’s substantial cedary oak component is nicely integrated with the fruit.

Very dark black cherry – quite minerally, Used to be part of Cure Bon and bought by the Maltus’s of Teyssier from Canon. Very full-on and sweet and explosive. First vintage but the vineyard was very well looked after before the Ch Teyssier team acquired it. Red maraschino cherries. Quite light-bodied relatively. Bright fruit.

The debut offering of this garagiste wine from a vineyard next to Clos Fourtet, Le Carre’s 2005 is packed and stacked. It boasts a dense purple color in addition to abundant quantities of black fruits, crushed rocks, and flowers nicely wrapped in toasty oak, good acidity, and ripe tannin. This is a noteworthy new addition to the ever expanding portfolio of Chateau Teyssier’s Jonathan Malthus.
