Vinous – 93

Conterno-Fantino’s 1999 Barolo Sorì Ginestra is quite a bit richer and deeper than the Vigna del Gris, as it always is. Leather, tobacco, menthol, licorice and savory herbs are some of the many notes that flow through to the massive, tannic finish. With time in the glass the 1999 softens a bit, but the tannins of the year and the 100% new French oak barrels will always remain. [Antonio Galloni, 08/01/2014]
